Young Kang - Founder & Principal
Young Kang is an internationally experienced architect and the founder of OUN, an emerging design and creative studio dedicated to shaping a more positive and inclusive future through thoughtful and impactful architecture. Born and raised in Tasmania, Australia, Young’s journey reflects a deep passion for merging cultural, historical, and contextual understanding with bold, innovative design.

After earning a Master’s degree in Architecture from the University of Tasmania in 2009, Young began his career in Melbourne before embarking on a decade-long international trajectory. His work has taken him across Asia, Europe, North America, and the Middle East where he contributed to a range of landmark projects spanning art museums and cultural buildings, masterplans, high-performance towers, and civic spaces. This global experience honed his ability to navigate complex cultural contexts and deliver designs that are both visionary and sensitive to their environments.

Young’s portfolio includes collaborations on projects of significant scale and cultural importance, from major urban masterplans in the UK and China to iconic cultural institutions in the United States and Asia as well as many other programmes and typologies. These experiences have shaped his philosophy of architecture as a discipline that must not only meet the needs of clients but also serve the broader public interest.

In 2024, Young channelled his diverse expertise and creative vision into establishing OUN. The studio reflects his belief that architecture has the power to captivate, inspire, and contribute meaningfully to humanity.
